Why is F0 production only two months and F1 19 months? Why did Honda, upon introducing the F model, change model years with virtually no changes after two months?

Legend has it Soichiro himself hand-built the '75 F0s.  A herculean task even for Soichiro, however special effort was warranted for a special bike.  But after a couple of months he figured that was enough, handed off production to the assembly line and the '76/F1 was born.

I heard that, they would bring them over to the old folks home he was living at. What a guy.

It was the ultra rare F1 frame with the F0 engine he was most proud of. I think he signed mine but the powder coater blasted over it.

And they were also referred to in some Honda systems as the K0 Super Sport

In Europe there were only F1 and F2 and as far as I know no "black engine" F's. They were basically the US F1 model with a double stay front fender with early K turn signals and the F0/F1 engine which could account for the "extra" engine serial numbers
The European F2 was the same black engined, prone to suffer worn valve guides, bike as in the rest of the world!

I was looking at the VIN plate on my F1 over the weekend, it clearly says 1976 model in the lower right corner, but the build date is 7/1975

so, that was my point previously....i posted a 4/75 build date that said 1976 model , ....it looks like the F0 was only a few months............i'd  like to see a 4/75 with no model year stamped on it..or a 3/75 with 1976 on it.........

I have a titled frame neck from a wrecked 75F I'll have to check the date on it.

Here's another 1/75.  I had a line on another 1/75 bike that was only a handful of numbers off from mine, but unfortunately, I didn't have the cash it eventually sold for...  Surprisingly it was missing the stock exhaust as well.  ;D

Go to the UK site and look up Piki as he makes a lot of the decals.
