hello from the Niagara area in Ontario
« on: March 28, 2019, 06:36:06 PM »
I picked up a 1974 CB750 about 6 weeks ago
Sat in a shed for 35 years
24000 miles and an inch and a half of saw dust.
Engine and carbs were stuck.
I do have it running and and having a lot of fun bringing it back to life.
My rider is a KZ900 that i found in a barn.
I will start a build thread when I get a chance.

Welcome from Lake Superior,

Good job on getting it running.  I am about 100 miles SW of Thunder Bay Ontario.  That is a big province.

That's a nice find.  These are harder and harder to find in Ontario at a reasonable price.  Not like it was 10-15 years ago.  Good luck with the project.

How did you free up the motor?

I let it soak in ATF for a week
Put it in fifth gear and jerked it back and forth.
It came free quite easily.
It doesn't smoke and actually pulls well up and down the road.
Still have issue with the idling.
It had pods on it and I just put the original air box back on.
The carbs were seized also
I cleaned them and freed them up but they need some love
Thanks for the welcome
It would be nice to share some resources and knowledge locally

I had pretty good results with marvel mystery oil. Two years and 5,000 kms later it’s still running good
