Electroplating or zinc plating
« on: May 27, 2019, 07:48:20 PM »
Does anyone have a source for getting their old bolts zinc plated? I searched and saw a lot of people getting it done or doing their own DIY but no professional sources

Why do you want to use the old ones ? When you can get new ones.

Because it's much cheaper. Oem bolts are expensive for original restorations.

DIY is simple, cheap, and, strangely, satisfying!

A lot of parts you find will be discontinued and nolonger made.

I’ve been playing for a while. I usually use it for some part that I can’t replace. Fantastic when a part turns out “as new”. Read the threads here and then give it a shot!

If you are in the DFW area of North Texas, I'd recommend Arrow Plating in Ft Worth.  Taken many bikes worth of bolts down there over the years.  Good guys.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.
