836 Ring Gaps
« on: June 12, 2019, 12:56:46 PM »
Hey, is there any consensus on ring gaps for Cruzinimage 836 pistons.  Hoping to rebuild for the LAST time.
Thanks

.004 inches for every inch of bore is standard.....i.e. 3" bore = .012 gap

There is an old long thread about these pistons on this forum. Search for that one. I bet the gaps are mentioned there.

Honda stock gaps must work fine too, maybe just a little more.

Here:

My last K2 build with cruzinimage 61mm pistons had 0.2-0.3mm end gaps.
Rings had sharp edges I removed with grit 240/400 paper. Pistons too. Sharp burrs can scratch bores.

Sharp edges on rings can hook into the piston or oil rail hook into the middle ring that work as a spacer which can cause issues when cylinder is to be wrapped on to the pistons and all rings need to compress completely without problems, if not risk for bent oil rail, broken ring...
