75 750F Clutch not releasing the gearbox
« on: July 12, 2019, 10:16:46 AM »
I recently took a lady friend out for a ride and returned the bike to the garage after. A few days later I needed to move the bike and when I pulled in the clutch and tried to push it, no go, stuck tight. After a bit of rocking it back and forth it came free. A day or so later, same thing. It seems each time it sits for a bit the clutch plates are sticking and it takes a good bit of horsing it around to get them to free themselves. I do have a set of I believe 6 clutch plates here in the garage that I bought but never installed. I am wondering if our combined weight on the bike, I would estimate that at around 400-425 lbs, cause the plates to overheat? I haven't attempted any adjustment or repairs yet, looking for some thoughts before I start.

Thanks,

Cliff

Sometimes it's the oil. I have a kz1000 with 50W Brad Penn racing oil that sticks if I don't tie the clutch lever back. It sits a lot too.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Typical for CB750. Oil involved too.
My K2 was really stucked after a few days with Spectro HD 20W-50 mineral oil. Replaced half of the oil with synthetic oil and it became better.

I used CycleX clutch plates in My K6 för a while and they were really grabby.

Well, went to change the oil today and as the tank plug came out so did super thin gassy smelling oil. Not sure why the carbs are leaking into the cylinders, floats obviously, but at least I now know why the clutch wasnt working properly, water for oil, thanks guys!
