Where do these wires go? Cb750
« on: August 13, 2019, 01:44:33 PM »
It's been a very long while since I did this but where do these two wires go. Probably the one from the engine goes to the starter solenoid but the one from the negative terminal goes to a ground point. Can't remember where it goes (probably somewhere on the frame).

The one in your hand should be the starter power cable and it goes to the starter solenoid on the left hand terminal (the one with the loose nut in your photo).

The one sticking out of the frame looks like the ground connection to the battery, it usually bolts on at an engine mount.

Danny is right, and the ground cable mounts at the right rear engine mounting point, the top of the detachable plate.

Clean the connection points, no paint, no rust, no corrosion, add a little grease, for a happy electrical system.

I being a deviant, installed mine (750K7) under the aft top right engine mount bracket. That way it is firmly bonded to the engine, sandwiched and hidden between the two. That way frame bracket paint does not have to be removed thus offering the best high current (-) electrical path for the starter and alternator to the battery. The negative path for the frame to the battery to run accessories has enough roads through the numerous motor mounts which is easily verified with an Ohm or Volt meter. With fresh power coating you really should check electrical bonding.
