Splitting the A motor Q?
« on: October 20, 2019, 06:34:57 PM »
Does anyone have tips on splitting the cases on an A motor? I have the cylinders off, they were stuck and judging by gooped gaskets it appears the PO was poking around inside the pan and side cover. This off season I plan to have a look inside. I'm modifying an engine stand to hold the 1/2 case. Is it better to remove the top or bottom?

Thanks,  I've been off reading the manual. It has some good info, it also shows the open engine and no rods are visible. I  should have looked there first. I especially like the troubleshooting chart that's 4 pages long. It would save a lot of conversation in the tech forums.
The trans is a lot less scary after looking at the manuals. If it eventually turns into parts it's ok because I paid $40 for it and am using the wheels on another bike.

Cases split real easy as there are no shift forks. Assembly is a breeze too.

Thanks Mike. My Dragster's getting a new set of CNC ported and chambered CFE BMF385 heads. I wonder when someone will work up a cnc program for cb750's?
I can't wait to have a peek inside.
