1974 cb750 four- engine (fins) clean

Hi, im in the process ove stripped the whole bike and im into cleaning bits up. Im about to tackle the engine fins, as there is a lost of crud in between them. as they are brittle and ive never cleanded  this style of engine...looknig for best results...what is the best way to clean in between . im not looking to get shiny, as it will be painted...any advice or best ways...thanks in advance

When you rebuild the engine get everything vapor blasted.

I typically start by cleaning the entire motor with Gunk Foamy Engine Cleaner, not sure if it is available in Oz, but you prolly should have a comparable product...

Vapor blasting is great but the engine would need to be totally disassembled.  IMO that is overkill if it will be painted as it leaves a great finish.

yes we have that..its $43 !!!...but the idea made me begin to look in right direction for some other products. Im rebuilding this bike and besides trying to limit what I spend, I want to be able to do all the stuff myself without sending it off ...right done to cleaning with a toothbrush...ive done a few newer bikes engines etc and brought them back..but never a complete one like this will be...silly question i know, how to clean engine fins....lol..but tips was what after...so thankyou...you have at least sent me down the right road!...

If you are scrubbing things clean, then a gun cleaning brush and a cleaning rod works well.
