Cheap Petcock from Amazon
« on: November 09, 2019, 05:59:44 AM »
I bought a cheap petcock from Kids ATV and when I tightened it on the tank the retaining ring that holds the nut to the valve just popped right off. I was able to snap it back together and got it to hold but wasn't thrilled about it so I contacted the seller and they sent me another right away. The second one does the same thing, is it just me or has anybody else shared this cheap petcock issue?
here is the petcock valve. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079MGB4Q9?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details

Bad quality item that can cause an expensive stop if far from home. Get bike home can cost. New Honda original is not that expensive.

I did the same thing. I ended up rebuilding my original petcock. Aftermarket petcocks are junk.

Some parts can be junk as long as there is no risk for safety, hours of rework, collateral damage or a stopper. No problem if starter relay quit  if  there is a functional kickstart. I cannot find anything more ;)

Do the non-OEM ones sold by 4-into-1 have the same reputation?  If so, I can't understand why so many suppliers flog junk which anybody who knows anything about would never buy...

Im sure they do not care or know.
I ordered cheap pilot jets to my CB750 carbs from 4-1. The jets did not fit, 2 of 4 broke inside carbs when there were slightly too wide, the narrow 2mm front part of the jet.

I had to pull the carbs and drill the holes free from brass debris.
I wanted to test one size bigger (42). Then I realized what another shopper's review of same jets ment.  He had broken jets too. I was sure that was done by too much force.

Not even the cheap carb repair kit from Cruzinimage has that bad pilot jets.

i got some float valves 4-1. not one of them, in any combination worked. i called him on the phone, asked if he's ever had any returns from them, as whoever was his jet manufacture doesn't look like they have any quality control. i told him i had some experience in those carbs, so before he starts some line of bs, i kid you not he said "never has he had any complaints and he's sold thousands of them." i told him right out of the package they didn't work, you can put it in your mouth and test it at a desk, and he said "oh no, the only way you can tell if they're ok is to put them in the carb and then install the carbs, and then you'll know. it's the last time i'd ever buy anything from them. any more, almost nobody can sell anything that's not broke or gonna last any time. china is not gonna be nice when they defeat the usa, and plant their flag, from selling this stuff. it'll be communist china.

Before we condemn 4 into 1 for being the importer of all things Chinese (and I agree that most of these products are crap), we should also note that they do stock a wide range of products from various sources, including genuine Honda parts. To me it's simply a case of "caveat emptor" - or buyer beware of what you are purchasing in the first place.
