400 four engine paint
« on: November 06, 2019, 02:41:35 pm »
Hi all, first thank you for letting me join your group. I have recently bought a 1977 400 four and am restoring it. I would like to know what VHT silver paint will give me the same finish as original.
To let you know something about myself I am retired and have been riding classic bikes since the '60s ( mainly Triumphs) and do all restoration work myself. I owned a 400 four back in the early '80s and regretted selling it so here we go again. My standards are high if not concourse as I believe in using my bikes and all advice with the Honda would be gratefully received.

I used Dupli-Color DE1615 Aluminum Engine Enamel and 1612 primer.  I've attached a couple of photos, but they are not really as close to what the covers look like in the sun.  I have used this combo many times and having been around these bikes when they were new believe the color match to be very close.

I use Dupli-Color as well, it really is a close match to the stock paint.
