1977 cb550 rejetting
« on: November 25, 2019, 01:10:31 PM »
Hello all,

So the PO of my bike cut/removed the muffler part from the original exhaust  :( and now it's just straight piped with megaphones essentially. The bike was not running when I got it and also not re jetted. It is loud as hell from what I could tell from the first break in ride and I don't really know if I like it or not, so might replace at a later date, but for now how should I got about jetting it properly? It is a 1977 cb550k with stock air filtration system and stock bore freshly rebuilt.  Also for new pipes what are some recommendations?

Before I'd rejet,  I'd replace the exhaust.  Delkevic makes nice, affordable systems that won't require jetting if the rest of your system is stock.

Yea, I was looking at those Delkevic ones on 4 into 1. Do you recommend buying it with the muffler they make? Also looks like you can change the oil with them on which is a plus.

Keep the cutoff exhaust and ditch the stock airbox for some sick pods and then your on the way to a badass cafe racer.  Here is the how-to video to get her running perfect:

Yes, use their muffler.  It sounds great and isn't too loud. Provides good back pressure.  And you can change the oil with it on the bike.

I ordered a set of those pipes with the megaphone style silencer because I think it looks better than just the straight muffler. :D

Thanks for the recommendation.
