suggestions for best replacement ign.coils k5 750
« on: December 21, 2019, 09:45:07 PM »
My stock oem coil wires too short, and connections are cracking and deteriorating.
What is a good brand replacement coil that has removable plug wires, and is rated
at 5 ohms and mounts easily without have to modify things to make stuff fit?
What do you run? Anyone have pics of a nice clean install? Thx. folks.... :)

Dyna 5 ohm coils (black) have removable leads, like cars. Bolt on to Honda stock brackets.

Do not use Dyna grey graphite leads they can fail as mine did. One had intermittent disconnections. No problem with connection to coil, maybe wire or dyna made cap.

Important to strap the leads to frame close to coils since they can come lose when cleaning bike or wind or whatever which I have noticed.
First time cyl 1 had some intermittent problems when it still hang with the rubber seal.

2nd time I strapped them to frame. 1, 4 most important whuch I strap to frame close to 1, 4 plugs. I use a piece of fuel hose as extra insulation where strapped to frame. Hose 2" long cut open to be wrapped around lead

There are still stock Honda coils to order.
I bought a set from DSS as aftermarket manufactured by same company as stock. Only difference was no Honda label on the package.

My modified K6 got them as practical fault trace when having ussiues, most likely carb jettings.

I'll mount the Dyna coils back on that bike ( maybe today since its tank is off) and let my stock K2 get stock coils next time I need to lift tank on the K2

I used dyna coils. They're good. So are Dyna solid copper plug wires. Guys on the NGW forum also use GL1500 coils.

dyna's look good to me as well. i'd make solid core a must . Clean installation and reliability is important too. dynas look like they lend themselves well to that. Any suggestions as to who has the best prices?....

Pretty sure I got mine on ebay. Whenever I'm looking for a decent price, I get the part number or concise description, plug it into Google and see what's what.

I’ve used the Dyna ‘knock offs’ from 4into1. So far, so good. Very similar to the Dyna in that the ignition lead is replaceable. They’re branded ‘Magna’ and are rated at 5 ohms. Priced at $102 USD is for 2 x coils plus leads, spark plug caps,  etc.

My last set of Dyna 5ohms DC8-1 found on eBay USA for around $107US, July 2017.
Possible to find if searching.

Look for Hondaman's coil recommendation written in several threads.

For a stock bike, go OEM or Hondaman' s  choice.

Dynatek Motorcycle Coil Set DC8-1 Dual Output 5ohm Blk Mfg.Warranty Dyna DC 8-1 US $116

Dynatek Coil 5 ohm Dual Output Coils Dyna & 7mm Copper Core Wires Red  US $134.95

Knock offs not always cheaper than the original, if yes, not much.
