Anybody sold a bike or car on Bring a Trailer?
« on: January 20, 2020, 11:39:08 AM »
Thinking about selling some stuff this year. I submitted one of my bikes to BaT and got a reply. They want to list it at no reserve and that's scary to me. I've seen some nice prices and results on the auctions, but with my luck I'd be the outlier and lose out at $900 or something.

i have followed bring a trailer for years and they seem to be a stand up auction site .  why the pressure to go no reserve ?   it costs 99 bucks to list a vehicle and am sure you can set a reserve .  if they push for no reserve  you can always say  no .

I balked at the no reserve and they agreed to list it with a reserve.

Looking at what a few bikes have sold for on there, I may end up listing more than one!

I submitted my 750f maybe 6 months ago and got the same run around with them demanding no reserve. I told them "no" and kept the bike.

I may make another go at it at some point.

I wouldn't say they "demanded" no reserve.  They initially offered to list it as a no-reserve auction.  I told them I was concerned about it selling too low. They immediately replied that they would list it at the reserve I asked for.

I've seen some unremarkable bikes going for a lot on there. Pretty weird imo. Maybe the people buying on that website like to read the story and that helps them feel secure in the purchase. Always nice photos too.

I saw a CT70 sell for $6800 and the guy said he was going to hang it from wires in his garage.
I have one just as nice or nicer I'd be glad to sell him at that price! Or less!

I went back and forth with them on a reserve and they pretty much told me no. Maybe I was asking for too high a reserve but I have over 5k in the motor alone. I might try again at some point.

I went on the website and I immediately saw bikes that I considered buying!

Guess I need to stay off it.

Good luck Scott!
I follow this site regularly and the Honda fours go for big dollars.
I have been amazed at the final prices for these bikes.

What bike are you thinking of selling on BaT?

Great ad Scott!   Do they help you write it?  That is one thing that always stood out to me on BAT, the info in the listing is so much better than most other websites where bikes are listed.

You supply a ton of information and they write the ad. You get to edit and approve it before it's listed.
