Honda CB500 Throttle Grip Adjuster Install
« on: January 23, 2020, 11:26:57 AM »
I recently picked up throttle adjusting screw and spring for my '72 CB500 and found when I tighten the screw it has little affect on my throttle.  In looking at diagrams I've found a part that I may need in order for the adjusting screw to work: a throttle grip adjuster.  I plan on purchasing the adjuster but do not know how/where to install it.  Can anyone explain how to install this piece and how does it function?  I'm hoping to use the adjusting screw to open the throttle some when warming up the bike.

It goes inside the switch housing (#3). On the bottom. It's slightly curved to match the twist grip for the throttle.

Piece #5 lays in the bottom half of the throttle to put tension on the tube. The tip if screw #7 locks into the hole on the spring (#5) . When you tighten the screw it the tension is supposed to  keep the throttle open, it isn't a cruise control  though.

Thanks for all the information guys. I installed the throttle grip adjuster inside the switch housing on the bottom as Scott S mentioned.  It works great, now when I turn the throttle to rev about 2,000 rpms I can turn the screw until it holds he throttle in place.
