Head Cylinder compatibility.

Due to a minor spill a few weeks back I'm going to need to replace the head on my 750f1. Will an early (K2) head drop on, in which case can I keep the F1 Cam and rockers or should I change the lot to K2 spec. I know the exhaust mounts are different but this will work in my favour as I'm planning to fit a swarbrick race pipe anyway.

In the UK anything over 40 years old only needs insurance and Fuel.

The F1 cam, rockers and towers will work. The main difference in the heads will be the oil jets and chamber design and possibly the exhaust guides. I believe the exhaust guides on the K2 still had no stem seal which is NG and would warrent replacement to a modern guide(IMO). The chamber is much more crude, ie a lot of extra material and sharp edges, in the K2 and would require reshaping to operate as well the F1 head. The K2 oil jets are pressed in as opposed to a jet system. While I have never had a problem(knock on wood) with clogging many others have. Personally I would look for a K5, 6, 7 or 8 or F, F1 head. ;)

Thanks for that - as I'm just about to pick up some K2 heads with a job lot of parts I'll stick with that, unless anyone can give a reason not to.
