Mike Nixon does fabulous work. Was he affiliated with Randakk’s?  I was thinking he was owner or part owner. Randakk’s unfortunately sold their business to the same group that owns Z-1 Enterprises and XSCycles (?) The later is for Yamaha XS650 bikes, catering to them...
They Randakk posts, on their emailing lists, have been about 2x as frequent and push product far more than previous I recall having a smattering of tips and how-tos in many of their emailing. Maybe the emails have changed a lot and I didn’t notice previously. I have not been impressed with the frequent emails and the heavy push of product, even products I have no interest in, when I signed up for emails from them I recall having specified the model of bike I own. A dirty word by many here and they don’t want it uttered in other threads. That’s OK, they haven’t owned a Maggot and can’t appreciate it for what it is and is not. A man and a bike has to know its limitations... to paraphrase & adapt Clint Eastwood’s famous line.

Maybe Mike isn’t affiliated other than a contributor...
Hopefully Randakk’s doesn’t change their suppliers under the new management or they will ruin a good source of products for what they carry/carried.

David

David..... Mike is still going strong. Been dealing with him for 20 years, since my CBX (he did the carbs). Check out <motorcycleproject.com>. Amazing tech source, tons of booklets and online resource.

No idea, a nickname for some bike or other? Autocorrect maybe?

Thanks guys, and yep, "Maggot" refers to the Honda CX500. I have one of those hiding under a tarp in my back yard, to my eternal shame......... Not really, they're a great bike. Heavy, underpowered and slow perhaps, but they're hard to kill, and a little across the frame V twin is pretty cool, especially with decent carbs and exhaust.

John, those gaskets in your pic are for a K1-K6/F0-F1. The K0 carb tops have a spring "boss" of about 20mm OD, so if you look at the pics I posted you'll see that the holes in the K0 gaskets are much larger than those in your pics. You could use them in a K0 if you have a hole punch set and enlarge the spring boss hole accordingly.

Back to the "redneck" thing, this song pretty much sums up what has happened a few times in my home town:

OK, just getting ready to go over to the self storage place and jump on my big blue Yamaha and ride the 200 miles to visit my Ma. We're having Chinese take-away food for dinner, something I haven't had since March. I always pop for Chinese takeaway when I go visit Ma, not just because I like it, but my Ma is a terrible cook, it's a shameful admission that I only joined the army because army  food was actually better than Ma's cooking.......... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I stopped by to check the K0 and got reminded of my older first cousins that got married. When I heard about it I was grossed out. My sister said it's OK, he was adopted. Nope, still ain't right. Don't care, she just wanted his military disability anyway.

But I digress. OK, so I was surprised today that the weather was actually nice after the last couple of days of sh1t weather. My old Acer laptop sh1t the bed, and as I need it to continue to "work from the home salt mine" I had to drive around to my local "Officeworks" store and buy a new laptop. The salesman said "How can I help you sir?" and I replied, "Sell me the cheapest laptop you have in stock".

I bought a new Lenovo, took it home, dumped it in my comfy chair, then walked out to the garage, dragged out the magnificent red K0, and fired it up. It starts so much better now with the top gaskets that the d1ckhead carb "Expert" on Ebay didn't bother to install, and it warmed up quickly enough that I didn't have to make a tool of myself blipping the throttle at the lights. Once it was warmed up, it just ran like a stabbed rat, the upright sitting position isn't much fun over 80 MPH, so I stayed at 80, and it just went so well. Unlike most of my modern bikes, at speeds up to 80 MPH, the upright sitting position is really comfy, and on a nice warm sunny Sunday, it was just a pleasure.

Anyway, i rode on to Heathcote to the bakery, for a beef and Chiraz pie, and some anti-inflammatories to ease the pain in my back, neck, and liver. Their food is cheap (like me....) and their rest rooms are clean, so for an almost 61 year old, the Bakery ticks all the boxes. I refilled the tank at 109 miles, and it used exactly 10.9 litres, which makes the fuel economy 45.4 miles per gallon, if my math is correct. The bike has now done over 500 miles and I'd planned to drop the oil and filter at the 500 mile mark, but it still looks nice and clean, so I'm gonna stretch it out to 1000 miles I've decided, it's just going so well, I'm gonna leave it alone. ;D

Terry, your miles are they the same as US miles? The imperial gallon is different than the US gallon...so ya never know sometimes if we are comparing apples...
Glad you got to enjoy the bike for a long ride.

Thanks John, they are actually cardboard (gasket material) not rubber, but yes, definitely made a difference. Thanks for all the compliments guys, it just keeps getting better and better, one of my quickest builds, but possibly my best. Definitely my favourite CB750, I better hurry up and start my K1! ;D

Sorry David, forgot to answer your question, yep, our miles are the same, but our (imperial) gallons are bigger. There are 3.7 litres in a US gallon, and 4.54 in an imperial gallon. ;D
