550/650 Clutch Lever Seal Replace
« on: October 03, 2020, 06:00:35 PM »
Just curious if anyone has replaced the clutch lever seal on the clutch cover without removing the cover. I already took my cover off but then as I was looking at it it seems like it could be done fairly easily unless I’m missing something.

how would you get that lifter thingy off to pull the arm out?

Once you take the clutch cable off you can spin the lever arm so the flat isn’t against that other lever thingy. I don’t know what these parts are called so it’s hard to verbalize, haha. But maybe I’m missing something like if the clutch cover is installed then the lever arm can’t be spun because it hits the frame or something. In that case then it wouldn’t be possible I don’t think.

After I replace the seal and reinstall everything I might just do a pretend seal replacement and see what happens.

hard to describe things with all these thingies ;)
i find it difficult to imagine how it would work. even if you get it out - how would you get it back in again? the inside arm is being pushed towards the outside, if i'm not mistaken.

if you to a pretend replace of those thingies, let us know how it works out.

Yeah, that lever inside the clutch is being pushed to the outside. That might be the road block.

You can always take pictures of your thingie when you play with it. ......................oh crap that doesn't sound good, never mind!🥺

Just to close this out, yeah you can’t do it. You can remove the clutch lever but getting it back in you’d have to grind a ramp on the back side of it to slip it into the clutch adjuster lever.

Glad you can’t so I didn’t remove clutch cover for nothing.
