lack of repro parts Q?
« on: December 08, 2020, 03:05:09 PM »
Has anyone inquired about the lack of repro parts such as exhausts?  I'd guess it's covid related but I'm wondering if it's a shipping problem, manufacturing where the parts are made or just sold out since more of us have time to work on our projects?

Probably made in batches to make it economical and lead time has extended for all those reasons

Spoke with a regular vendor last week and it’s probably a combination of all your thoughts. She is out of certain items that usually stay in stock for much longer and inventory orders are delay d and shipping slowly......

its not just repro parts.  I had difficulty getting a set of tires for my gs1100 earlier this year...had to resort to my 8th choice.  Also, just wanted a chrome superbike handlebar for my kz1000...took 3 months to get 'em after 3 ebay sellers advertised them, took my money, refunded, and then finally after I had given up, one randomly shows up on my porch.
If it works good, it looks good...

Yea a couple of contacts that are in the CNC parts production side of things said that they have never been busier with everyone working on their projects due to staying home more and now that the riding season is coming to a close they expect it to get even more crazy.  A lot of companies have so much demand that they have to pick and choose production numbers based on what makes the most sense in terms of raw material availability, timeline, etc. so certain things we have all been used to regularly seeing are falling by the waist-side for now until they can catch up.
