Piston stopper for CB550
« on: May 19, 2021, 03:52:37 AM »
I need to check true TDC, so looking for proper piston stopper.

Can you advice what exact stopper I should look for/buy (ideally link to shop/ebay etc) or specification/dimensions that I can order it to local machine shop?
Ideally if it would fit CB750 too, but priority is CB550(500)

locally I found this one, but no sure for dimensions.. https://www.minibikemania.sk/piston-stopper-14x1-25mm/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw7pKFBhDUARIsAFUoMDbl93xAmorgzVKyd-MXNunVFuEZZOJmXI4etZJmszPIMUmq8PPE7eIaAkSrEALw_wcB

Thanks

G'Day, I prefer to use a stopper that has an adjustable length.   Easiest way is to make your own from an old plug you have, break up the porcelain with a hammer pliers, screwdriver etc. Then tap the steel section with a tap and use a bolt that you can screw in / out etc.

at what that stopper costs, just grab it, looks fine. if not just do it like this pic, protrusion bellow plug body abut 16-18mm, but not critical

unlike johno, i dont see the need for adjustable length.... never adjusted mine...

in any case, not rocket science, I did both stoppers at home, without a lathe or anything...
