A motorcycle enthusiast I've known for years always shows-up w/ an interesting bike; a new CBR1000, a CBX-6, VFR1000 and a couple others. Today I was at his house, and in his 2 car garage in the corner (under lawn furniture etc) was a dusty CB750 K1 that didn't look too stock; Morris mags, plastic race tail, lo-bars, orange paint, menacing black headers, chrome bits, unusual carbs etc. He tells me he bought new in 1971, its got Yoshimura pistons, head work, the whole 9 yards. Hasn't been touched in 10-15 years or so. MMMmmm...I'm kinda looking to build a cafe racer, so I give him the old, "you wanna sell it?" His reply.."Yeah, maybe...I've just too many projects right now..."

That's how I got mine. Lifted a tarp because I thought I saw a 750 rear wheel. And it became a Christmas bonus/gift no less

K1 has a FULL-RACE YOSH MOTOR, MORRIS MAGS, TRIPLE DISCS, AND ONLY 10,000 MILES! Untouched and garaged for about 25 years! Not mine YET but negotiations sound positive.

Its a KERKER presently but I got a Yosh pipe waiting to go on it to make all sorts of wonderfully LOUD noises

Its finally in my garage tonight. That Yosh motor will roar again but I'm going to tidy things up a bit first. Its the basis of the cafe I've always wanted to build.

Very cool!!! So what did you have to give for a bike with all the good sh!t already there? I even scoped dual disc front end.........if you got that for less than $1500....you did good.

It was twice that, but it wasn't actually for sale, so I feel very fortunate. Don't forget, its got an all-out soup-to-nuts Yoshimura motor from the 70's, not just a big-bore. Heres a rough mock-up of how its coming together...I pulled the carbs, cables, etc, yanked the Kerker and threw on that nasty hand-bent Yosh pipe and the Dunstall fairing. I need rear-sets, clubmans, fork brace, a complete going over and strip-down and I'm doing it right. Its got potential.

Check it out; after a totally one-track-mind week of thrashing details, this bike is coming together and totally RIPS! And its street-legal!
Amazingly, after a total carb rebuild, I set-up the sync gauges and it DID NOT NEED ADJUSTING! Good kharma.
I feel like 18 years old again; this is what I always wanted to do with a 4 cylinder.

Some nice details on there too, like the turned around front forks and the rear disc set up. It probably needs a decent brake set up if that Yoshi motor is still packing all it's horses

What's that back wheel from, is it a 16" or are the photos just making it look small?

16" Morris mag rear w/ a GT501 Dunlop 130/90-16 and Lockhead caliper clamping a Honda disc. Its actually the same diameter as an 18" w/ that really meaty tire.
Rigged a V45 Magna master on the fronts which is angled for pullback stock bars so it sits nice on clubmans, plus its a nice low-profile master cylinder w/ not much wiggle room to spare; it stops better than the usual single CB750 set-up I'm used to.

i like the front, i havent seen many with the reverse calipers.... man thats a sweet ride, i have the reversed calipers aswell, but did it myself.....

its funny this story, cos i recently found my natural father after 30 years, and he has a blue K2 in the garage, under a bloody 4X4 wheel and tire.... that was our first heated words, and it was within the first 2 hours!!!LOL hahaha..
