CB550 oversize piston ring source?
« on: April 03, 2021, 07:05:28 PM »
Anybody have a good source for extra rings?  Broke the damn middle ring on #3 trying to get the cylinders down tonight and all I'm seeing around short of an entire piston kit are standard size rings.  Working with 0.5 overbore (59mm) pistons from Cruzinimage.

Did you ask Cruznimage if they can get  at least a single piston set from their supplier?

Chance is low if someone here bought extra rings with their kit.
This is the ring, right?

Yeau. I use hose clamps to hold the in when dropping the block down onto the pistons. You reall onlly need 2 but I prefer to use 4.

Nice!  Did not know cruzin had a standalone store, thought he was Ebay only...  Not jazzed about shipping from Japan since I'm at a standstill until the rings come, but at least they're available.

Found some 59mm rings from Dynoman (right down the road in Austin), not sure if rings are fairly universal and could be used or are they more proprietary to each piston manufacturer?

cruzinimage.net is much better than eBay!

Quick support and adjustment of shipping after you have paid with refund. Happened me every time.
The clutch fibers for CB750 work fine. I guess they are OK for other bikes too.

Dynoman CS confirmed that their 59mm rings will NOT fit, for reference.  Will have to wait out shipping from CruzinImage  :-\
