I got a free to me 72 CB500 with chopper forks that are 6 or 8" longer than stock. I was hoping to just order some forks by frank tubes and reuse the lowers as they are in excellent shape. I did as much searching as I could, does anyone with more knowledge and experience know if they reused the stock springs/damper inside with maybe a spacer or should I just buy whole stock forks and save a bunch of time and little money trying to piece together something.
Thank you in advance!

More often than not its a long spacer above the spring, usually cut up handlebars, unscrew the top cap and look inside, it'll be obvious what they have done

My CB500 I got a few years had extended forks with the spacer, what philgresty said. Along with dampning rod extension.
thanks, Mark
