Out of all the Hondas that you've heard, which year and engine size has the best sounds?

Hot-rodded Valkeries sound very interesting.

Agreed. I got a thing for sixes.

My '79 CBX with RC Engineering pipes sings nicely.  (Best sounding Honda.  The howl as the revs move past 6KRPM or so is absolutely unearthly.)

Honorable mention definitely goes to the Valkyrie.  While mine (a '97) may not be “hotrodded”, I did install the very highly regarded and fairly rare Viking pipe - arguably the best performing and SOUNDING pipe to be had for the Valk.

Well, I believe the OP mentioned:

So, while the Sei drew heavily from Honda DNA, I guess it almost qualifies.   But the extra 300cc on the CBX makes a different, more soulful wail.   A buddy of my rides a Sei.  We've compared notes extensively.

And it should be noted that the RC pipes do sing...

Yes it has a little clutch or primary noise, but that exhaust note is what I like.

Best sounding bike engine I ever owned, was in a CAR! Headers with a megaphone. When the Super Trap “accidentally” fell out, sounded even better.

+1 to the CBX sound!  Not sure if there is actually a pipe that can make those sound bad.  Amazingly, years ago I was riding through South Bend Indiana, pulled up at a red light, and lo and behold here is this little old guy on a ratty CBX.  Light turns green and I got handed my lunch, but what a sound track for defeat!  He was well out of sight before that sound became inaudible.

I can't wait until I get to ride our 80' Suzuki GS 1100E with the new Mikuni RS 36 flat slide carbs and the Delkavic stainless 4 into 1 exhaust system. It should sound great.

2+ for the CBX as the best sounding bike. Shortly after my friend Chris had fitted a 6-1 exhaust (don't remember the brand) we went for a ride. We were cruising on a freeway with little traffic, and I didn't notice he had dropped behind a fair distance, until he came screaming past me at about 100MPH in what was probably 3rd gear. What a lovely noise! ;D In retrospect, the sound is similar to getting buzzed by an F-4 jet, but not as loud...

The Busso pipes on my Benelli 750 SEI are pretty empty….. stunning sound at high revs, from the six megaphones……

The sound of my 79 CBX when it moved above 6,000 RPMs went from scream to a wail that's just hard to put into words. Something to be experienced.  Thank you Russ Collins!

Sold that motorcycle in September. Still mourning the loss. (But I'm keeping the avatar dang it)!
