CL 350 vintage racer project
« on: September 09, 2024, 07:01:04 AM »
Good morning,
I have been posting on the Honda twins forum but the traffic over there is pretty thin. I’m building a vintage racer for use in a spec formula CB350 class. Engine mods are very limited but I am looking to build the engine so it will stand up to the rigors of track use.

It has been suggested to use a copper head gasket for this application. What is the group’s opinion of this and what sort of special instructions would I need to heed for this installation?

Also, Honda is no longer supplying OEM gaskets for these machines. I know there are many sources for aftermarket gasket kits, etc. Does anyone have suggestions for which suppliers have quality parts and, more importantly, which should be avoided?
I appreciate any advice you can provide, thanks.

The HT forum died when it got sold.

Head over to https://www.vintagehondatwins.com/
All the knowledgeable vets are there.

As far as gasket sets, OEM A&B sets can usually be found on ebay.

What year is your 350?
I might know someone in NH that has NOS gaskets for some of the old twins.

It’s a 1973 CL350K5. That would be quite helpful, thanks.

Are you boring it bigger? You will need a bigger head gasket if so.
Where are you located??

Base gasket available

He doesn't have the head gasket butCMS in Holland shows they have 1.
You could try David Silver Spares (warehouse in PA as well as England)
