Hi from Brisbane Australia..
« on: August 13, 2021, 01:34:50 PM »
Hello and thank you for letting me join this forum..

I am a old Codger just retired and am now doing something I always wanted to do…
Own a Honda 4…I remember back as a kid my cousin got one and it left a lasting impression that I never got over lol.

Long story..  I have owned many bikes of the years all farm bikes and quads but never the dream machine.

I have now picked up 1972 CB500 four that has been made into a cafe racer… My task is to bring it back to original… She needs work .. it splutters and backfires won’t pull off the mark so lots to do.

So next few weeks I’ll be reading all this forum loading old brain with info you great guys have passed on…We are limited on what’s we can get down here and I my task maybe a hard one as in original parts ..
Anyway a big thank you again for letting me join…

Griff.

Welcome Griff, she have pods or stock airbox? I am betting it has pods, that can lead to numerous running issues on stock motor bikes.

Hi Raffster…yep it has pods … Funny you should say that about pods lol….I have been busy reading that thread on …” so you want to run pods “… There is a box of stuff that came with the bike and I think there is a air box there…I’ll be pulling the pods off … I’ll take a few pics and pick your brains on what’s original or not so I can get started… Thx and the beers on the old boy🍺

Hi again fellas....Well i sent bike away to a fella near the Gold Coast to make up a set of mufflers for her..He made up a set of shinny new 4 to 4 that look good...not as good as the originals but ok anyway....You were right about the pods, when i put the stock airbox on it ran a hell of a lot better. The carbies still need work as the overflows  run fuel out of them...Here are some pics of her ...Still lots to do of course...
