F2 rear M/C Q?
« on: August 16, 2021, 09:51:24 AM »
I have an F2 rear disc brake, the remote reservoir is pretty dried out and cracked, The M/C it's self is stuck hard.
What's the best route to redemption, GL1000 master cyl. rebuild kit and a reservoir off of some newer bike? How about the caliper?

there are loads of rear master cylinders that will bolt in place including gl1000, you may have to mess around with push rods and/or brake line adapters

The rear on my F1 is a generic item I picked up off eBay for about $25. It was advertised as a GSXR MC. I had to make a small bracket for the top and a stop nut for the bottom to keep it from rotating. Your F2 has a different bracket, so the install wouldn't be the same.

although the brackets are different, I think the bolt pattern's for the f0/f1 and the f2/3 are all the same.  I wish I had my f3 stored where I could get some pictures of both.

How about the caliper?
Don, don't bother with the F2/3 rear caliper (or front calipers); you can do the two piston caliper upgrade using stock parts like you did on the GL. ;)

Since I have one in my garage that belongs to a friend I suppose I could wander down and look.

It's good, just gathering info for parts in stock. I'm not building it yet. I have 1985 30mm twin piston 1100 V twin calipers  left over from buying the gl conversion.
