Correct routing for brearher hose to oil tank hoses
« on: October 23, 2021, 07:11:22 PM »
I'm trying to confirm which hoses go from the motor to the oil tank. NOT the threaded ones obviously.
I'm sure there will be a  diagram somewhere but I have Google'd and can't find one.
This bike arrived in bits and I'm not sure which hose goes where to put it back together correctly.

In the stock frame, the hoses only fit onto the oil tank and the engine in one way. The S-curved hose goes to the lower rear engine oil port, the other one goes from the outer oil tank spigot to the front engine oil port. This one stands taller off the engine than the first one.

The breather hose on the back of the oil tank goes to the back of the engine until the 1975 K6/F0/later model bikes that have an oil separator, which is a plastic container that is fitted beneath the frame's battery box.

Which year/model is the bike?

It's a bitsa cafe racer not a stock bike. Does the breather from the rear of the rocker cover go to the top of the oil tank?

The tanks changed in 1976 on the K models from the pre K6 oil tanks and again in 1977/78 K model so the year and model of the tank matters. The K5 and earlier oil tanks have a vent off the back of the tank which was eliminated on the K6 tanks and replaced with one on the bottom of the tank to the oil separator(I just became aware of this difference yesterday according to Anders as we were discussing changing out the charging system to his high output adapted system the mounts an R1 voltage regulator under the battery box and the K5 and earlier oil tanks have to be changed to a K6 oil tank for clearance)
I thought I still had pictures of a K4 tank I painted last year but can't find it in my phone and my K6 tank is in my storage so I won't have pictures to post here for a while.....

Ok, thanks for the responses but this one is the answer I was lloking for complete with picture.

Ok, new information.  Something is set up maybe wrong on my bike.  According to this image I scalped from another post about a custom oil tank:

You still didn't identify what year tank you have.....
