JUST  for interest. best I ever got from my standard 500 was 104 mph. with maybe a tail wind. Got an estimated 123 mph with Turbopak and 630 cc low compression pistons. the dials on the 500 were very erratic so hard to tell. it was faster than standard.

I owned my 500 four in the early 1970's.  I was a F4 avionics technician at the time working mostly afternoon shift. at about midnight I would cruse the the farmland between Glendale and Luke AFB.  It would not pull above 8500 or so in fifth, even with my head between the gauges and feet on the rear pegs. It would actually go faster in 4th where it would pull to red line.  It would indicate about 105, which I knew to be about 5 to 10 MPH high.

No Idea about the 550.  :) :) :)
I tell my wife the motorcycles are an investment...
