1973 CB350F rear sprocket bolts?
« on: November 09, 2021, 07:25:34 PM »
Just got a 1973 CB350F been in storage for 24 years.  I need a part# or bike model & year to get replacement bolts for mine.  The problem is the '72-'73 parts explosion shows the sprocket as an assembly with the bolts pressed into the sprocket (38T) and therefore there is not a reference part number for the bolt by itself. Does anybody know what is a proper replacement? CB350K? or CB400F maybe. Here are the measurements of my bolt
------[]------------------
------[]------------------
16.5            34.0mm    measurements are bolt to flange and flange to end of stud.

Hope some one can help me here, I bought new 17T and 38T JT sprockets but my bolt threads are damaged.

Thank you,
Bradleycougar

The CB400F uses part #90128-KE5-000, yet my cross reference chart does not list those fitting the CB350F. They only fit other models, so likely not a proper part for the CB350F.
You may need to find a used sprocket assembly containing those parts from a member here, or Flea Bay and use those parts. They are removable from the rear hub just as studs, which you already know.

Lots of options on EBay with a few sprockets available with your required bolts for as little as $15.00 used.

I think you are supposed to change those studs from old sprocket to new, if the threads are damaged you will need to get a die to repair them

Secondly  as the bush in the wheel is the same 350 and 400 the stud is probably the same 90128KE5000

As I remember from my parts man days in the '70s, the CB/CL 350/360 studs slid easily into the sprockets, but even if the nuts were properly tightened and the lock tabs secured, they would work loose and oval-out the sprocket holes.  So starting around the CB350F, you could only get the sprockets with the studs pressed in.

As bryanj mentioned, the bushings are the same part number for CB/CL350/360 and 350/400F, so the available CB400F part, 90128-KE5-000, should press fit into your sprocket.

Thanks all, I showed mine to a fasener "Expert" and said they didn't look that bad and to buy a die (10MM X1.25) and clean them up.  I got new nuts and they seem good to go.
Again thanks everyone!
