New chain-spring clip type vs rivet pin
«

Hi alll
So I bought new chain and sprockets for my 79 CB650 I’m restoring.
I watched a bunch of videos pro spring clip and rivet pin
Just like to get others thoughts if spring clip is sufficient to connect the chain ends
Thanks
Darren

Yup, clip master links are good. Just put the clip on facing the right direction. The tip I remember is, "fish swim downstream". The open end of the clip is the trailing end.

Chain on top of the sprocket the closed end toward the motor. Chain below the swing arm/ bottom of sproket closed end toward the rear wheel. I have never had or seen one loose the clip.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I’ll put it together today with the clip.

I found a master link recently that was the flat top and bottom type (not dog bone shaped) and it was drilled for safety wire to hold the clip on. I believe it was a racing modification.
