Help with wiring turn signals and indicator light
« on: March 18, 2022, 08:55:35 PM »
This is for a 1976 CB750F.

I replaced the speedo and tach with an aftermarket set from 4into1 with built-in indicator lights. Everything is plug & play except the turn signal light because on the original cluster, each of the R and L turn signals is connected to their own indicator light. So what do I need to do to connect both R and L turn signals to a single indicator light? What kind of wiring magic do I need to do to make this work?

You can always make the diode mod yourself with a couple diodes (1N400x; x being any number 1-8 - any will work), small length of wire and some M/F bullet connectors.  The line above the black triangles (diode symbols) relate to the line (band) on the diode.

Thanks Kenzo, you reminded me that I clipped a few diodes out of an old dead vcr a few years back to wire into my 250 Nighthawk basket case with a similar speedometer. I'm going to link this thread in my build thread so I can find it later.
Cheers M8!

… nice!  Strip everything of it’s useful parts before tossing it.  Always a smart move.  You may hold onto it for decades before you use it. But the moment you throw it out, you’ll need it within 30 days.

I know, it's always going to amaze me how much good junk I paid to have hauled away when we were forced to move last year. Renting sucks!
