smithrelo~
i posted this b4 i was aware of the rusted nuts BUT, i would still like to consider an sohc4 club for this area.  there were 3 of us at the meeting at the ps lounge, you makes 4, i know an old neighbor that had a yellow 77 400f ss... so that makes 5.  These are only people that i am aware of... there are definately a lot more in our area.  i would like the club to be based around the sohc4 considering they have such an ambitious following from all the old die hards to people like me who are converts from my past crotch rocket days... (i just feel more at home and welcome in this crowd and on my vintage ride)  it could possibly be open to other bikes depending on how the group feels once we were able to get it up and going.  my thought is it would be something very similar to this website only having more to do with actual rides and gatherings.  i was considering a possible first ride to meet somewhere in our area, a ride to or thru nederland and ending up at my house for a barbeque (considering i live in the boulder canyon, yes i live in the twisties  ;D )  but, we obviously need a bit more interest than what has been stated... so, lets here it for a boulder/denver sohc4 group!

I'm up for anything.  But Boulder is REALLY far away for me-I'm in Highlands Ranch!!

Honestly I've had my bike to Aurora Honda once and that is the absolute fartherest I've been...been a bit of a wuss (sp??).  I kind of wanted to go up to Blackhawk or Central City or just Evergreen.  But I've had issued with fuses zapping so I'm still taking baby steps here.

Yes, It would be nice to have 10-20 sohc4.  I've never been in a "motorcycle" club but kind of want to just for the fun of it.

Keep me advised and in the loop.

I do travel a bit, so we'll just see when the meet ups are and if I can make them.

Boulder?  Are we talking about Estes Park?   I think the Boulder area is a little more south but must have some of the same type roads right?  I have been through the Estes area and it looks like a nice place to ride.  I live in Cheyenne so I am interested in rides that might be closer to that area than to Denver.  If any rides to pop up in that area I'd like to be included.  You'll have to allow my GS to stand in for my CB.  The only way my CB would make it is if I drag it allong.  That would mess up the fresh powder coat though.

The GS guys don't seem to want to meet around this area.  I know the GS owners in other areas like to meet but for some reason the Denver/N Colorado area hasn't formed any groups.  The last ride that I knew of when I lived in TX involved CB and GS riders and was more succesful because of it.

Modified.....  I just looked and saw that you are very close to Estes Park.  I would be interested in meeting with the Rusty Nuts group but Thursday would not be likely for me.  Maybee if I do get a free first thursday I can ride down with you.  Other than that I was thinking of the weekends.

Heffay, what is this patch for?  I'm confused.

Also, are there any members from the south metro area.  I live in Highlands Ranch and the May 5th meeting will be the first time I take my bike out at night.  Is there a buddy I can pair up with to make sure I get home OK?

well, the patch was an effort to gather interest... simply enuf.  did it work?  i think the stars are kinda cheesy but there is a process to design ya know.  ;)  also, the patch is for the denver metro folks who ride sohc's, wanna ride sohc's, or just dig'em.  i dont believe there is an sohc group in the area sooooo... there is now!

and with that... please await "The Red Lion Ride"

(please correct me if there is an sohc club in the denver area)

So, it doesn't have enything to do with bikes or denver or singleoverheadcams. but it looks cool and that's really what counts.

Any Denver area members interested in meeting up in town on 6/26?  I'm scheduled to arrive for a business trip that morning with nothing scheduled until the morning of the 27th.  I'll be there until 6/30 and would be interested in meeting up with local members for dinner any evening that week.   Unfortunately, I won't have riding gear and no transportation.

Glenn, the Denver Rusted Nuts is having some sort of get together that day.

My last info said a ride from 12:00 noon until about 4-5...but I'm not sure of details.  But I'll check and copy and post it.  There is a dinner meet up at end of ride-perhaps you could taxi to that??

Here is DRN info regarding 26th ride:

"The next Rusted Nuts meeting will be on Sunday the 26th of June. The
location has yet to be determined, but I just wanted to get the date
out so everyone can plan ahead. Weather permitting, we'll have a ride
starting at noon (for those who like to ride), and then head to the as
yet undisclosed meeting location. This is starting to sound like
something from "Mission Impossible".

Anyway, I'll let you know as soon as we have a meeting location.
Mark your calendars, I want to see some more bikes this time!

Gordon

P.S. This message will self-destruct..."

Glenn and all the denver metro folks~
would love to see you all that day.  perhaps, a ride to the red lion restaraunt in the boulder canyon since linda says our ride is unplanned as of yet.  the reason i suggest this is it is a beautiful setting in the mountains by the river and best of all... i live there!  we could barbeque.  we could chat and relax.  and, best of all, we could do some twisties.  for all you naysayers... boulder is only 18 miles from denver   :P      oh! and prettier!  sorry had to  ;)   Glenn, business or pleasure?  should we try to make an impromptu stay for you or do you have accomodations, etc.?

hey ebc... nice design but as you said it doesn't have a lot to do with the bikes we love and ride... i say we still need to work on it but we are getting closer with every post.

I'm there for business and have accomodations at the Westin downtown.  I've been out in the Boulder area a couple of times for business trips.  I always get stuck out in the Westminster vicinity which is a bit of a suburban nightmare (no offense for those who live there - I'm from farm country; housing developments and traffic are not for me) - fortunately, those times, I have a car and the mountains around Boulder are within reach.

On this trip, I do not have transportation, but there are a number of ways to get to Boulder, I'm sure.  Best bet would be to give me a place and a time and if I can make it, I'll make it.

sorry westminster lovers... it really is a big cookie cutter joke of a town.  where were the sprawl police?  for that matter, where are they now?  anyway, it seems to be official that there will be a vintage gathering at my place on the 26th of june 05.  so... now what we need to do is discuss times (to meet in denver or golden to gather for the ride over the ridge and also for an approx. time we will be arriving at my place for those that can only come later)

also, do we spend lots of money at the red lion restaurant or barbeque at my house (they are 20 yards from each other) heres the menu for the restaurant:  http://www.redlionrestaurant.com/ ... if we do decide to eat at the red lion we should shoot for the early evening specials which are all $11.95... the stroganoff is to die for.  but, then again, so are my burgers.

glenn~ hope you can make it!  let me know if i can make that easier somehow.

Glenn,

Finalized plans are in the works, so we'll let you know what's going on as soon as we can.  I wish I had my 550 ready to go, I'd loan it to you for the ride in a heartbeat!  Hopefully you'll be able to make it out to Heffay's place.  It would be nice to get a chance to meet you.

I'll see what I can do about making it out there.  From what I can tell, I'd have to rent a car at the airport and return it that evening before going to my hotel or go to the hotel and rent a car somewhere in town if I can return it that evening since I won't have time in the morning.

we will be meeting in golden at 1119 washington st "the buffalo rose"

from there we will ride up highway 72 to nederland then down highway 119 to my house where the bbq will be hot!  hope to see many there!  many great old bikes and people (dont have to be as vintage as their bikes) from denver rusted nuts motorcycle group.

check out the yahoogroup www.denverrustednuts.com

glenn~ we have a great bus system that could take you from the westin (or very near) to my house (within a quater mile)... if you would rather not pay for a rental car but could put up with a bus ride let me know times and such and i will work out a schedule for you.
