Topic: 1977 Honda CB550 tank stripe

Hi does anyone know if there is a difference in the tank stripes between an excel black or candy garnet brown color scheme on the 1977 Honda 550? Thanks

If no-one here knows, contact AFE Graphics. They supply decal sets, but, I believe they don't advertise Honda due to copyright threats. They do supply, however. I've used them for my 500s and 550; good quality and good service. They also seem to know what is correct for a specific year or model. This is my '74 550 K0 tank. Self painted, but stripes applied by signwriter.

77 model is totaly different tank to early ones

here...but only shows one color for 1977 "K's"....and just one for 1976.....

'77 tank is different than earlier "K's"..as stated..more like the "F's".

This site claims the stripe was the same for both colours.

 The brown and black had different stripes.
 Black had a red accent, brown had blue.

Here's the tank stripe on my Garnet Brown 550K and a black '77 550K that i found from an old auction. They look exactly the same to me.

 OK, so maybe they offered red and blue for both years?

They're Candy alpha red and they had the blue stripes. Better colour than garnet or black IMHO.

Thanks for all the help! What I think is that in 77 it was garnet brown and red stripes and in 78 it was garnet brown and blue stripes.
So I think ill be going with the red stripes and garnet brown on my '77. Appreciate all the help, I am a novice here!!

I believe this is correct. the '78 K models had a slightly different seat design and stripe colors compared to the '77 in addition to replacing the Garanet brown with the dark red.
