1972 CB750K Gasket Kit Recommendations?
« on: October 19, 2022, 04:05:30 PM »
I'm gearing up to do a full-on rebuild of my engine out of my '72 (broke the drive chain, grrr...), and was wondering what everyone's preferred gaskets kits were?  I plan on going OEM for the head gasket at least, but figured I'd hear everyone else's recommendations for all the rest of them.  I figure gaskets, o-rings, the whole mess.

Thanks!

I have used the gasket sets from 4Into1 with good results.  I bought the kit that included new seals, pistons and used everything.  I used this same kit on my last CB750 project too and it worked out fine.

I think it's a good plan of you to use the OEM Honda head gasket when available and the other rubber 'pucks' when you can.
I have used Vesrah gasket kits and like their quality, especially the NOS kits.

I used a gasket kit from CMS. Gaskets we’re of high quality.

Only have a few hundred miles on the motor but no problems.

I wouldnt place an order just for the gasket kit, but if you have a bunch of other stuff to get from them it’s an option.

Not sure what your doing for internals but the primary and cam chain kits from CMS were all genuine Honda parts (even though that’s not advertised on the site) and a much better deal than any where else.

Do you mean CMSNL.com ?
I've ordered Honda parts from them before and they were good;I was surprised they still had those NOS Honda parts.

CMS buy up dealers old stock worldwide, last big dealer they cleared out was Western Hills Honda
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

They bought-out Western Hills Honda in OH. ? I purchased parts from them 7 years ago when I lived in PA.
I heard the man who sold all the vintage parts(he charged high $ for that stuff too)wasn't there anymore/died? Sorry that they aren't doing it anymore.

Yes… Consolidated Motor Sports.

I have place a dozen or so orders with them and have yet to be disappointed.

Even got a Yamiya body kit for less than I could get it from Yamiya because they ship for free. And it only took 2 days to get to me in California.

Do they have a  USA warehouse to get it to you in 2 days?

I've always been consistently shocked at both the parts availability and shipping times of CMSNL.  Heck, depending on what people on Ebay ask for OEM, a lot of times even with shipping I come out ahead.  I love 'em.

As for the question, I completely forgot about 4 into 1.  I've used them for the occasional GL1000 part, but I keep forgetting the 750 is their bread and butter.  Thanks for mentioning them!

Selling the cheapest parts possible is their bread and butter.

Wouldn’t trust a thing they sell.

And if you got a problem with something… good luck!

Yamiya kits are very high quality and they state the head gaskets are the same thickness of OEM ones.

Make sure you use an MLS head gasket from Cycle-X, they never need re-torquing. I also have made up kits which include every o-ring in the engine. Several high- end engine builders use them exclusively. They are made from Viton material, which is a step above OEM. If you were to buy all the o-rings from Honda, it would cost just over $100. My kits are $49.95 shipped with-in the USA. They come in packing that describes where they fit and include several o-rings that are no longer available from Honda!
