Yeah, the ebay seller "Sirius" has a monopoly.  He noticed the demand and decided to fill it.  He found a guy to make them for him and I think he sells quite a few now.  I rode down to his shop and bought enough to do my 400F seat.  They look great (or at least good enough to pass for factory from over a foot away.)

I think in the six or seven months I looked on ebay for the pins, before Sirius got into it, I saw 1 set of about ten studs come up once.  Someone paid about 50 US bucks for those ones.

On the old SOHC Greenspun site someone had commissioned someone to MFG him some for his 40F resto. Seems like the mnimum oreder would be for a hundred of them and he was trying hard to recoup the investment.

Could be same Dude?

I hope so, Sometimes persistance pays off :)

After you press those buttons through, how did you fold them over?  Did it require a special tool or technique?

Well I did mine different. I kept the trim piece that covers the heads. I used screws with a washer on each side and a nut. I then clipped the screw to a short length. I had to put the screws in the trim piece first then slide them to position. the friction between the seat vinyl and head kept the screw from turning while I tighten the nut down. works pretty good actually.

I found those at my local old timey hardware store, for a lot less
than e-Bay.
Bikes parked out front mean good chicken-fried steak inside.

Two days and this post is on page 5.  That is rediculous.  This forum should be broken into several catagories.  No wonder so many posts go unanswered.  This forum is getting to be a big mess.

I came up with a good way to install those rivets.

I pressed them through of course, then I put the seat on a table with the rivet touching the table.  Then I used a 6-inch socket extension and placed the square part with a corner into the grove of the inside of the rivet.  Then I used a 4-pound maul and smashed the socket extension.  I had to give some of them 5 good whacks before the rivet flattened most of the way out.  Then I layed the flat part of the handle of a Craftsman breaker bar flat onto the rivet.  Then I had to give it about 4-5 more whacks with the maul.

btw: a maul is a sledge hammer.

this guy sirius is pretty serious about his prices. $50 for some rivets is kinda out there. I wonder if the local upholstery shop might have some I can buy.

I should just check the local hardware store. They've got to have something similar.
