Always surprised how many there actually were. When new, we called them “sh*t Brindle Brown” and nobody liked them. Yet they sold well. Now I find them actually good looking! This was a K3 or K4 I did several years ago. Original paint, certain light, it had a purple hue.

Recent photos of PeWe’s brown K2 reminded how good they look. Let’s see a few more,

K4 I totally restored, with it’s original paint. This one had gold flake in it, for sure.

Same color as my Dad's '78 F100. 
The '70's was the decade of earth tones.

I cheated with my K2.
I gave it Peugeot copper metallic after seeing a Peugeot 3008 SUV in Spain a sunny day.
Bike's original color was Brier brown metallic so I took the brown way after an old PO called me giving the complete history from bike was imported with all owners.

CB750 K1 had a good looking brown when still fresh before turning green with redish flames.

K2 style graphic should look nice on Candy Garnet Brown.

A redish brown with sparkling metallic plus thuck layer of clear look really good.

Boss Maroon was the color of the 1974 purple hue one. I've got one also. Did make a nice chocolate color brown in 1973.

A freshly painted Brier Brown metallic  would be interesting to see.
Here more black tone. I cannot see any brown.
Maybe different in the sunshine.

I had a brown back in the day, it was a long story. The sun faded it very quickly. It seems the the colors toward the red end of the spectrum don't hold up to the sun. Here on Maui any red or reddish vehicle turns to chalk very quickly

 Jim was a painter by passion but when I met him at the power company he was painting bucket trucks. He painted a Duesenberg that won best in show at the Meadowbrook concours d’elegance. I think my Honda was the first motorbike that he painted, and it rekindled his interest in riding: he bought a Gold Wing and travelled extensively before he passed from a burst aneurysm.
 Stripes under clear coat from Reproduction Decals in Ontario. It took a couple tries to get the right ones. I made a tracing and sent it to them.
 I have a touch-up pen with a 2017 F150 color, it’s close enough. I chipped the paint on the tank front weld wrestling the tank off.
 I had a Candy Blue Green K0 in 70. Red and gold were common, Garnet Brown was the new color for 71 and so it was my choice. My bike was always garage kept, but the paint faded badly. There are knee rubs on the tank and you can see a gas spill. When a guy approached me at a meet and admired my “green” K1, I knew it was time for a repaint… I’m all for survivor, but the paint didn’t survive, and the repaint took the worst part of the bike and made it the best.

How is the Candy Garnet Brown done today?
Is it one red-brown candy over sparkling base or is it still green covered by candy red maning brown?

Happy New Year Kev. ........ for many years I raced my Lotus Eleven at Waterford Hills, just down the road from Meadow Brook! Got an invitation to show the Lotus there and I saw that car. It was spectacular! The fade on your original paint is wild, looks like it was a gold bike.....

mines not a 750 but my 550 (Brown Betty) is great for the brown color.

the 73 that is on bat right now for 18k is monkey sh#t brown  ,  never one of my favorite colors   but each to his own

 Brown has held up well on this original owner K1 that I have. Not so much on another that has started going green, too much sun. A shot of my K4 Boss Maroon (and "Army" Green Baccus K3) that can be tough to judge. Nice low mile 550 also that is keeping the brown color well. Think the 1976 550 is the same color as the K1's. Have a Brier Brown K2 also but have to admit it is not really one my favorite colors.

Too bad for me, I have never been to Waterford Hills or the Concours or even seen that particular Deusie.
I worked for a guy that had a Lotus F2? car (like the one below). The engine was on a stand minus working transmission. There was a future trip to get a Hewland from somebody in Massachusetts.
…. And I have no kind comments on what my original paint looked like after it aged. I was happy the tank wasn’t rusted out after 15 years of storage. With a sharpie and wobbly hand I “restored” the pinstripes at the knee rubs.
I was very fortunate to have Jim Nicholson do the paintwork.
When I got the CB new, there were two cans of touch up paint, green and orange, so I expect it was orange over green.

Eric..... the brown K1 is just lovely!

Kev..... my 1957 Lotus Eleven Series I was little older! Tiny two seater sports racer built by Colin Chapman specifically to meet the rules of the 24 Hours of LeMans event. It had room in the rear for a skinny front spare tire and the mandated “FIA suitcase”...... Weighted under 1000 lbs. and under 12’ long.

This picture was taken at Waterford Hills; corner called “Big Torque”. The Eleven would pick up and lock up the RF tire on entry and then keep it in the air, all the way around, rotating very slowly.....

  This is a pic of my K1 2013 Honda tiger eye pearl with K2 stripes, I don't have a pic that does the paint justice. In the sun it was stunning.
  I got the seat, pipes, handlebars and cables from DSS and sold it all back to him.

I know what you mean. A photo does not catch how really good it look like.
In sunshine it really comes alive.

I take photos on my brown K2 when it sparkles in the sun. Not always it will look like in the reality.
My blue K6 is different. It always look ok on photo, even when not completely clean that is not that visible from a few meter away.

Sparkling brown-redish is a special color.
When I saw the sparkling Peugeot in the sunshine I knew I must paint my bike in that color.

  Neilvx, That is pretty, and a good pic of the pearl/metallic it looks a lot like the tiger eye pearl.
