Maybe this trick is only new to me… I wish I thought of it years ago.
It’s about a 1 min video on using a socket to hold your spacers in place while you wrestle with mounting the wheel.

Good tip! I’ve used the tacky grease method for many years.
I have a set of “captive spacers” on one wheel for my track bike they’re so good I want to turn some on the lathe for all my bikes!
