Solenoid wires
« on: March 09, 2023, 01:52:37 PM »
Purchased a replacement solenoid from DSS.  Wires are yellow/red and green/yellow. The end fittings are opposite  of what they need to be.  The red/yellow has a male insert, the green/yellow is a female.  Opposite of what the harness will accept.  Does it really matter?  Can I just hook it up?

In theory, as long as the primary coil is totally insulated from the secondary coil(not always the case) it should be fine.
Its the solenoids with an integral fuse holder that have big problems as it depends where the fuse contacts are connected

The last one I got was like that and I think it worked fine. I just found it so annoying to look at, I swapped the ends!

I have found very cheap ones for a few dollars from China like that. To another bike and snowmobiles.
I changed connectors. Otherwise very equal in size and look.
