No Speedo Power?
« on: March 22, 2023, 03:39:06 PM »
So this is what I ended up with. Not the prettiest by a long shot, but I did the best I could. I can guarantee my next build with custom wiring will be better! I learned ALOT throughout this.

Now I tested everything before I wired it in and all my components work perfect.

Now, however, with everything wired in when I go to apply power, then use the key fob (which I already taught) to turn the m.Unit on I have several outlets that are lit up.

Lock, Ignition, AUX 1 and AUX 2 are all lit up.

Also, only my Tachometer is getting power. But its weird because my turn signals show up on the speedo and so does the high beam when I press them, but no backlight. Even weirder is the fact that the speedo lights up if I press and hold any of the buttons - signals, horn, High beam. My guess would be a pinched wire or short somewhere? Or perhaps all my ground wiring could be faulty?

My turn signals work properly (when the button is pushed and shown correctly on m.Unit).

However my horn won't work, but shows it working on the m.Unit and the same for High Beam, however the headlight isn't working either.

I have all my ground wires connected into the Wago on the right hand side (2 ground wires twisted together and inserted to 1 of the 5 slots - and this is done for 4 of the 5 slots) and then I have one ground wire going from that Wago to another (left side, circled) and then from that Wago I have a wire going to frame ground right next to it.

Find the wire from the mUnit to the speedo that provides power. Use a meter, and activate the mUnit. Do you have power on that wire?

Both red wires from Speedo and Tach I have going into AUX 2, both individually going into the 2 AUX outlets.

I'm on my way home at the moment, I will pull the Speedo wire from the AUX 2 outlet and use a meter to see if it has power when I get there and edit this post when I do so.

So you were correct. The tach is showing this on the meter (photo attached), but the speedo has no power going thru it. It shows 0.

Okay so I'm an idiot who accidentally put the HORN wire which is also RED into the AUX 2 thinning it was the speedo.

I switched them around and now my speedo is working correctly. Neutral light shows up and is on, so is my oil pressure light so all is well there.

HOWEVER, the problem of my head light not coming on when I hit High Beam is still present.

Should I do the same thing with the meter and see if they have power at the wire?

I figured it out! All 3 of my headlight wires had become disconnected, probably when I was looming everything. Man I'm a dummy.

Thank you for your time!

And also a big thank you Cal for helping me along the way. I highly doubt I would've been able to get it finished.
