Hi,

Just saw this bike for sale near my town.

It's a 1976 supersport that is 100% original. Haven't been drivin for the last 3 year but was working fine before storage. Have 30,000 km. Price: 500$

I was wondering if this would be a fun bike for me.  I'm 5,9 and 190 lbs. Is this bike to small for me? (don't want to hear any comments like "just lose weight!!!"  ;o) )

Is this bike really samller compare to a cb750?

Does it worth the cost?

Thanks for your comments

Yes it's small, yes it's fun.  Pick up the last issue of Motorcycle Classics, they did a full story on the 400f.  What town are you in?  Maybe you should just pass on it... what did you say the guy's number was?

will be better than a 350f  ;D
i've actually never ridden a 400f although maybe someday.  ha
i just picked up a stock seat last night on ebay w/ travelcade seatcover.  a little beat up but, who cares... i'll use it for tuning and have a rear cowl that i can swap for racing  8)

after riding my 350f... the 400f's 6th gear and 50 more cc's is just what dr. honda ordered.

they are quite a bit different weight wise from the big ones, seat height doesn't differ incredibly but, gordon and i were comparing my 350 to his 550 on centerstands and his stood on average throughout the bike- 2-3 inches higher.

If that ad were in my area, I'd be on my way with 500 bucks in hand!

JCote,

Great bike, awesome price.  I am about your height and weight, and I love my 400F.  Its plenty fast, really nimble and an absolute blast to drive.  The Parakeet Yellow is a rarity for the '76 - most having come in Red.  If I did not have mine already, and I was offered the bike I would jump on it!

Just take a look at the frame by the sidestand.  These bikes are prone to fail there, make sure there is no corrosion or messy welding that does not look like it came from the factory.

Check the pipes and headers for corrosion and wear.  New parts are available, but very expensive.  I have seen these bikes sell for upwards of $3K US, so if you have the means to put some $$ into the bike where needed, i would say its a pretty safe investment.  But then again, I have a serious disease when it comes to '76 Hondas ;D

Best of luck, let us know how you make out!
