Rubber band trick is good not bad, you use to hold theadjuster ends of the rocker arms up by connecting the arms on each cylinder with them

Ah ok, just the way you phrased it, sounded like I shouldn’t use the rubber band trick.

Like there’s a warning against it

Have you messed with your exhaust at all?

Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Nope.

Was installed when the cylinders were done. Haven’t moved since.

Would there be a problem with the exhaust? A leak?

It’s not the rocker cover making the noise… change to a spare cover.

Noise is still there… cam chain is ok tension I think.

I listened more closely and it seems to be coming from lower down.

Can’t pinpoint exactly where.

Someone was saying it could be somewhere else??

Ok I’m second guessing my carb syncing now.

Will double check it’s synced properly.

Presuming you have already adjusted the cam chain and checked your valve clearances from earlier post about the later...

Yeah checked again today when I realised that turning it anticlockwise adds the tension.

Valves clearance is definitely correct, re-did them for the new valve cover.

But no difference in noise. Will have another look at resyncing.

Turning WHAT anticlockwise, you should be turning NOTHING on the tensioner mechanism except the locknut when tensioning chain, if yo have turned the screwdriver slot you may well have damaged the tensioner mechanism

I believe he's referring to direction he was rolling the motor over it. You roll it backwards and the slack builds on the back side of the cam chain...
