Hello from Northern Virginia
« on: July 03, 2023, 03:08:30 PM »
Greetings everyone.  I was late to the introduction party and started right off with questions and was helped by some kind forum members.

I recently purchased my second 1978 CB750K as a retirement project for myself as I transition out of the Army in about a year.  My original 78 K8 was the first motorcycle I learned to ride and I've been hoping to find another one to purchase for awhile and the one I found fit what I was looking for.  I'm going to attempt some basic restoration on it but have no desire for it to be a show bike.  I want to ride it as much as possible.  My first big projects on the bike will be restoring the front end to the original K8 front end (currently has a 78 F front end with '82 brake calipers), getting a stock 4 into 4 exhaust on there, and then trying to get it painted the original Candy Alpha Red (currently Excel Black).

Here's a few pictures.  Looking forward to seeing everyone's posts.

Welcome to the forum.
The installed dual piston calipers are a big improvement and more powerful than the originals, although not period correct.

Welcome from central NC, and welcome to retirement, you will enjoy it, I been retired now about 18-19 months and love it.  I too bought a '78 K8 to restore, mainly focused on running instead of show.

Good luck...

Welcome from the heat of the southern Arizona desert 🏜️.
Function over form is often something you will appreciate if a car stops hard in front of you...those 82 calipers are worth keeping.
I wouldn't change them unless it were for the 32mm version...
David- back in the desert SW!
