Has anyone here used a very small voltmeter with it's own separate 'pod' which can be mounted somewhere between my speedo/tach that's accurate,vibration-resistant & weatherproof ?  Round is preferable.

I had chrome SW mechanical analog gauges in automobiles back in the 70's which I 'Loved'  ;) 8) but they would be way too big.

I use the Yoshimura temp gauge, you can toggle it to monitor voltage.

The exchange rate is pretty good right now, you can buy one from Webike.

The temp gauge hooks up to a special oil drain bolt that is a sensor.

You would need to verify your oil drain bolt thread pitch.

That would be super cool if it did temp, time of day, and volts, and you could set up to just scroll  between the 3 functions :-).

Here's a video I took a couple of years ago of my bike. At the end of the video, you can see the temp meter.
The video was taken before the carbs were tuned.

I found a little digital voltmeter with power ports built in on ebay. It was cheap but is still going after a couple years.  This one needs a mount made for it.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/394522130363?hash=item5bdb59f7bb:g:wQMAAOSwl01kGAf8&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA0Dk3GAS9IWe%2BWxMRWpXB8mRyTJpimhZW7VEc79VE8tFBkHrHnvEIE5HoV49sK5uUH1aToI6CZT0mIXN4Nczw0SPsnz9fg1OJs0QATosGPzXL%2BT5f8Kem%2BWtueNkZXNvzS5slYASbgszKGQvlr3HEzsFOY06RNDlFfZulmK8RjV4bVNttC%2FLQG5rp14c2u7h%2FOQPNrBcIrG3hlBUblQMrb%2B96XsAsRJe2yl8aAYDqLtS0D%2FGNM88sc%2F2gU6PetWg42W802oYrsWK4JJkyz86bYuc%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR_iN2_mOYg

Does it go directly to your battery terminals with an on/off switch Don ?

I have one like Don’s (maybe even smaller) on my KLR. I wired it to the taillight feed. Cost less and still works great.

Same meter here, it’s fused and it’s tapped in the headlight shell to black and green. I have it wire tied to the handlebars, it’s not a show quality mount. I’m using the USB to charge my phone, and use Waze while traveling or away.

The meter is on its second season. The bike is parked inside and I do my best to not ride in the rain

I wired mine through the hot wire to the windjammer, the voltage is often reading low. There's a lot of voltage loss in all that wiring, plugs and 45 year old switches. I added a relay to feed my dyna ignition.

I like the one you linked to Don.

Sorry, I’m a little slow getting here with these photos of my setup.

A couple years back, my older AGM battery just quit mid-ride, 50 miles away from home. I kick started it and rode it carefully home. Caught two red lights on the way, stalled at the first but not the second, phew! Later considered that a voltmeter might be a useful tool to have onboard.

Also noticed that my older phone battery was pretty low in the latter stages of rides, so I added the phone mount and charging cord.

The practical value upgrade outweighs the aesthetic value downgrade, IMHO.

No, I have used two wire ties, one around the barrel of the meter and the second around the handlebar. The meter is not going anywhere.

The body of the meter is threaded and you’re given a large nut that threads on the body, for a panel mount. Do you know the detail that relocates the ignition switch from under the tank to the handlebar clamps? A detail like that might also hold this meter, although I think the meter has a larger diameter than an ignition switch

Yes,it usually bolts to one of the handlebar clamp bolts.
