Last Fall, there was a book-signing gathering at the old Bridgehampton Race Track on Long Island. That track had the longest straightaway in North America (3/4 miles long, and DOWNHILL w/ a jog to the RIGHT at the end of the tall-geared straight). Can-Am races, Nascar, and other national races during its heyday. I once saw a TZ750 do 200 MPH there and a girl was riding it!
Now its a private golf course w/ a racing motiff (checkered flags on the green pins). Most of the track remains as a service road.
Anyway, at the book-signing, I rode w/ my son there on my trusty K1, and Holy Smokes, the old closed-off entrance to that straight was open, so I ROARED UP THE STRAIGHT AND UNDER THE CHEVRON BRIDGE AT 100 MPH, went the book-signing, and ROARED BACK DOWN THE STRAIGHT AND UNDER THE CHEVRON BRIDGE IN THE OTHER DIRECTION. And took this pic.
