Passing of Pat Larsen (CB750F2)
« on: October 10, 2023, 05:25:45 PM »
I received an email yesterday from Pat’s wife, Inez to advise that Pat has passed after a long illness, back in August. Pat was a lovely man, we had some great chats and did some motorcycle “Horse trading”. He bought a BMW a couple of years ago and I hadn’t seen any posts from him recently but just assumed that he’d drifted away. RIP Pat, I’ll miss you mate.
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I'm sorry for your loss, and hers, Terry. It hurts to lose.
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

The demons are repulsed when a man does good. Use that.
Blood is thicker than water, but motor oil is thicker yet...so, don't mess with my SOHC4, or I might have to hurt you.

I didn’t know Pat, in fact I have only met a handful of SOHC4 members.
I do know that it’s tough to lose a friend, and I’m sorry for your loss Terry.

Thanks guys, Pat was a great guy, he was a retired electrician and when the cyclone hit Norther Queensland a few years ago he went up there to help with the reconstruction. He loved his bikes, and his family, and I was a bit surprised when Inez contacted me because she said he’d always spoken highly of me. Coming from Pat, that was a big compliment, and I feel so sorry for his family, who I’m sure will be devastated. We never know when it’s going to be our turn, but we can only hope that folks will remember us with fondness.

Thanks John, it seems that we go thru stages, birthday parties when we're young, 21st birthdays (big here), engagements, weddings, christenings, and then years later, depending on how lucky we are, funerals. It sounds morbid, but I've been keeping score, since 2020 I've lost 19 friends, including some members here:

Bob Weston,
Bobby Rohr, (Bobby R)
Frank (754),`and
Pat Larsen (CB750F2)

All great guys, and all passed too young. We never know when we'll meet our maker, so enjoy life, and let those around you know how much you appreciate them. Just before my father died, he thanked me for everything I'd done for him. In my (then) 55 years, I'd never heard him thank me for anything.

I make sure I thank my wife, kids and friends whenever they do anything for me, I don't want them to have the same conflicted feelings I still have about my dad.
