Honda 750 k2 garnish molding
« on: December 11, 2023, 05:31:55 PM »
Have to replace both.  Anyone have experience in attaching?  They look easy to mangle if you know what I mean.

Do you mean the chrome strips on the edges of the tank?

The item shown fits on the end of the seat trim on the front, both sides. It wasn’t on the K or k1.  It shows in the parts book as seat trim metal garnish cap, part number 77212-323-300.  I can’t do “better” than that.

I didn’t replace them on mine. I’ll take a look at it today and see how difficult it looks.

If you had only included that in the beginning.....

You need to find a seat refurbisher, they may have some. We used to have a seat maker here in UK that had stock of them, he never advertised them though. I've got some new and  used ones at home in UK but I'm away overseas at present so can't look.
Trust me I'm a Nurse, I promise it won't hurt....much

I tried to re-use some used ones on a poor quality repro- cb550 seat.  It did not go well.  I found them very difficult to bend and manipulate.  I think some sort of crimp tool would have to be adapted or created.
If it works good, it looks good...

I tried to transfer a pair some time back from my original seat to an aftermarket one.  It didn’t go well.  That is the reason I’m asking.  I may try to source a motorcycle upholsterer locally for an opinion.

They can be a bugger to fit as you need to press the tangs in to keep them in place and as they are soft and tubular in form they tend to deform as you try to compress the tangs in. But they can be done if you do not try to rush it.

To all, thanks.

To Nurse Julie, I found your on line method for float setting very useful.

Merry Christmas!
