K2 center stand vs K4 difference pictures Help?
« on: January 10, 2024, 10:54:36 AM »
Anyone have pictures of the K0-K2 750 center stand and the K4-K6. I have a friend looking for a K2 and I don't know the difference from the later, K4-K6.
I have some K4-K6 stands and another stand I got yesterday in a parts lot which is a little different.

Here you go Stu!
Might not be the prettiest one you'll find; but here's a picture of my original K1 center stand.

Let me know if you need a different view or camera angle.

That looks like the K4-K6 I have so I guess I need someone that has each on the floor off the bike.

The honda750expert.com site doesn't show the difference just that there was a change in the K4-K6......???

I don't know what the Honda750Expert knows, but I do know this is an OEM K1 Center Stand.  I bought this bike new in 1971 and know it's the original stand.

I think they both will work, just trying to see if anyone has compared them side by side.

Stu….. I crawled under the K1 today and the centre stand appears to be absolutely identical to the one on the K6. J.

There was a change to the center stand in the sand cast era bikes.  The diagonal brace was added early in production (early 1000 number bikes).  That could be the change that was mentioned.  It may also be something so minimal like an increase thickness of metal that no one notices the difference.  I see a B was added to the main part number which did not change.

Scott….. I think you are correct. My S/C is very early, #1251, and the stand looks just like my K1, K3, and K6.

Thanks all,

I will take that as the answer to this question, that the brace was added early on in the sandcast with Scott and John confirming on the late number sandasts having the same centerstand as the K1-K6.

CMS at this point, calls for the same part number for K1-K6, 50500-300-020B. They don't show the centerstand part number in the K0 fiche for some reason.

I guess we're all still learning around here and glad you're satisfied with what you've learned about the stands in this thread.  I would like to mention that I seem to remember reading "somewhere", (but can't remember where), that the K1 center stands were modified somewhere along the line, with larger "feet" to assist in rocking the bike up at the stand.

When the change occurred or where that recollection came from... I couldn't say, at the moment anyway.

The site http://honda750expert.com/ mentioned the feet sheet metal got thicker at some point in the time line, but nothing definitive.

Thanks, I nearly removed the brace from the center stand on #5511 because I thought sandcasts didn't have it. I always learn from you guys, even when I didn't ask.

The letter suffix on the PN indicates color or finish. B for Black, XW for Chrome, ZZ for primer, etc.

Stu….. I don’t have a “K0” at the moment, but in this picture of my last one suggests that stand is the same as my S/C and the K1.

So I found, in a big box of parts that came with my bike, the crusty old side stand with the bolt, bracket, and spring.

I have a stand that grips the front tire in my garage, holding the bike upright for maintenance. My question is - how useful do you guys find the center stand for routine maintenance, etc? I've been using the side stand in the absence of the center stand, but the bike looks so sleek without it I'm hesitant to put it on.

Have to agree. It disappears nicely on a stock bike with 4-4 pipes, but on the one bike I have with a 4-1 I took it off…….

Yeah I have a 4:1 exhaust also. I'll put it on and see how it looks/ see how useful I find it. Like I said, I still have a stand in the garage but this would make life easier from time to time

On my K5 I have the 4into1 Hooker Header and left the centerstand on as I use it all the time, for maintenance of the chain, cleaning the wheel,  checking air pressure ect plus I park it on the centerstand all the time. I'll be putting stock exhaust and spoked wheels this spring hopefully....
