Piston ring install
« on: February 07, 2024, 07:25:18 PM »
Hello
I am doing an engine re-build on a 1972 Honda cb 350 four ,I purchased an engine re-build kit from 4 into 1 which included the piston rings .Unfortunately it came with no instructions for the two compression rings as to which one goes on top & also there are no markings on the rings .Of the two there is one which is rectangle & the other is beveled on both edges of the outside ,just wandering if anyone has used these rings and what is the correct order.

Thx

Normaly the top ring has a chrome colour to it and also normaly markings go upwards, if the vendor can not give you suitable fitting instructions i wouls ask for return and refund then buy from a more helpfull seller

I haven't used them from 4into1.

The beveled usually goes in the top groove.
If you look closely at the other it should have a slight angle on the edge(not an actual rectangle).
They both should have a dot on the upper surface of the rings to show the top.

From 4-into-1 website.
https://4into1.com/piston-ring-set-standard-13011-333-003-honda-cb350f-1972-1974/

The Honda shop manual has illustrations showing how to orient the bevel.
