400F. Lost Key. What Does One Do In 2024?
« on: May 31, 2024, 05:48:20 AM »
I'm hoping I have merely misplaced my key but I may have lost it.

What are the options to get a new key? Or new ignition?

Also, the seat is closed. How would I get it open if I bought a new seat lock and key?

Thanks much

Welcome to the forum....

Somewhere on the ignition switch and seat lock, there should be a number code of the key, you can search that number and probably find a used key on ebay.

Also I think you can just unbolt the seat latch reaching up and using an extension and probably a 10mm socket ??

Yes.
The numbers were always etched/stamped into the case;certain Japanese bikes required lots of cleaning-off the outer switch case to find it,as the manufacturer can hide them, which is a good thing.

THANK YOU!!

I'm pretty sure the way it works is that the moment that you buy a replacement key the misplaced  one shows up ...
