2024 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio
« on: August 01, 2024, 06:59:44 PM »
Spent last weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course participating in the AMA VMD road races. It may be the biggest vintage motorcycle event anywhere. It is truly a happening!  The weather cooperated and the new pavement saw lap times tumble.

I entered Formula 500 and Vintage 4.  You race both Saturday and Sunday with the results combined to determine the winner. Competition was tough in both and I finished 2nd in all four races to score 2nd overall in each class.

My favorite race was F500 on Sunday. My competition was Mark Morrow on his RD400. He is a formidable competitor and quick in the corners. My advantage is top speed, thanks in big part to Mike Rieck’s cylinder head work. This is GoPro footage from Mark’s RD. I’m on a red/silver CB550 in black leathers and white helmet. I pass for the lead multiple times on the long back straight.

He did eat you up in the corners.
Did he at least run castor bean to give you some enjoyment of his leading?

Love the smell of Castrol R!

He rides that pesky two stroke well. Listen closely and you can hear my four stroke rumbling as I chased him.  ;D
